Spatial Coverage | Great Britain |
Description | Four-panel editorial cartoon shows a barefoot man in an overcoat (or possibly a bathrobe) walking nonchalantly along a picket line. He suddenly dives through the line (ahead of sticks and stones thrown by the pickets) and through a window. In the last panel, he is shown giving a cat a saucer of milk. Low was one of the most influential cartoonists of the first half of the 20th century. He generally espoused radical views and was known especially for his creation of the stuffy English conservative character, Colonel Blimp. |
