Description | Drawing shows a partially nude couple on a bed, gazing fearfully at an apparition in full armor with a skull head, entering the door. Christophe was the pen name used by French artist Georges Colomb for the illustrations and comic drawings he made between 1887 and 1904. He is credited with the first modern comic strip, La Famille Fenouillard, begun in 1889. After 1904, he largely abandoned his art work and devoted himself to an academic career in natural history. |
