Description | Single panel cartoon shows Brenda Starr, the glamorous red-headed reporter, in a blue suit trimmed with black fur and a black hat. Dale Messick was one of the few successful women cartoonists. Her heroine, immaculately dressed no matter the circumstances, pursued newspaper stories, adventure, and her "Mystery Man" in crises all over the globe. After Messick retired in 1980, the strip continued in female hands. |
