Description | Twelve-panel comic strip shows a teacher telling the class, "The principal products of Virginia are corn, peanuts, and tobacco." Bobby begins to daydream about taking his pretty girl friend, Virginia, on a magical trip through the sky, holding on to an umbrella. He comes back to earth with a thump when the teacher asks him a question about Virginia's tobacco. The other children laugh when Bobby responds, "Why -- I never knew she had any." This strip was drawn from 1915 to 1919 by Frank O. King, who subsequently became famous as the cartoonist for the long-lived Gasoline Alley. |
