Images show furniture: fabrication and production, including experimental and prototypical furniture, parts, and molds; Herman Miller showrooms (Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York) featuring furniture, interior designs created for display of new furniture, and opening receptions. Furniture is displayed indoors in studio shots, outdoors, and in actual settings: at universities (University of California, Los Angeles, and University of Illinois); at Herman Miller Educational Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Herman Miller factory, Zeeland, Michigan; and at airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, California; Boston, Massachusetts, and Chicago, Illinois. LOT also includes images of: Revell toy house; chairs for exhibits at Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York; opening reception for 1973 Eames retrospective at MOMA; images and graphics used in advertising, graphic designs, furniture panels, and catalogs; design drawings for molded plywood and aluminum group furniture; and images used for Herman Miller timeline. Some photographs show Charles Eames, Ray Eames, Eames Office staff, and colleagues at work. |
