Description | Photographs show views of eighteenth and early-nineteenth century buildings in the Moravian community of Bethlehem, Pa. Structures and sites include the Old Moravian Chapel, Old Indian Chapel, Moravian Church, the First Moravian Seminary, Widows House, and the Moravian Cemetery. Additional views show the railroad line in Wyoming Valley, the Wyoming Massacre Monument, which serves as a mass grave for victims of the 1778 battle between the local population and invading Tories and Iroquois Indians. Also includes some views of the town of "Mauch Chunk" (now known as Jim Thorpe), one showing the residence of businessman and Judge, John Leisenring; views of Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Jefferson planes; a view of the Lehigh Crane Iron Works, Lehigh Valley. |
