Description	Includes many views of all classes of ships at sea or in dry dock. Mechanical and gun installations. Portraits of officers on their ships and naval officers at their desks, including Admiral Walker; Admiral Sampson and family in front of residence; Assistant Secretaries of the Navy Soley, Allen, and Tracy. Informal portraits of men on duty and at play, resting, eating, sleeping. Living quarters on ships and in various navy yards. Some copy photographs of Spanish-American War naval battles; some foreign ships. Includes some portraits made inside the State, War, and Navy Building (now Old Executive Office Building). Some copy photographs of portraits made by other photographers. LOT 30000-R includes Navy yards and shore installations in or near Washington, D.C., Charlestown, West Virginia, Hampton Roads, Virginia, Newport, Rhode Island, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Pensacola, Florida. Ships at anchor or in dry dock, boarding and landing parties, U.S. Marine guards, carrier pigeons, anchor and shoe park, gun and other shops. Naval Reserve units. Includes twelve photographs of the U.S. Gun Shops in Washington Navy Yard, including view of workers rifling a gun, the lathe room, gun carriage shop, shrinking pit, and an assembled gun.
