Description | Cartoon shows the activities of soldiers in boot camp at Camp Barkeley during World War II. Only the mess call has remained the same in their new quarters, the sergeant's whistle. A woman has taken the whistle from the sergeant. As a result, soldiers run from all corners of the camp, falling over tent lines and each other to get to food. A vignette in the upper right shows a soldier wearing a towel stoking a small stove with call to heat up water for bathing. A vignette in the lower left shows four soldiers taking a pool table to a pawn shop because they have no recreation room. |
