Description | World War II cartoon shows a loathsome sea monster (labeled "Nazi Saboteur") crawling out of the water on to a beach. In June 1942, eight German saboteurs were landed from submarines on beaches on Long Island and in Florida. After local residents notified the FBI, they were captured by the Coast Guard or surrendered. Such sabotage efforts were few and far between. |
