Description | Cartoon shows automobile manufacturer Henry Ford in overalls backed by airplanes labeled "Ford Air Routes" and cars labeled "Ford Auto Line." Ford says, "Now for a Lizzie 'sub' service." Ford's legendary inexpensive Model T Fords were known as "Tin Lizzies." In 1922, Ford invested in airplane manufacture and in 1925 began to take on contracts to deliver the mail by air. The allusion to a "sub service" is not clear. |
