Description | Cartoon shows former Democratic National Committee Chairman James A. Farley abandoning a weeping donkey who is heading down a road leading "To Fourth Term." Farley says, "I guess I'll walk from now on." Farley had broken with Roosevelt when he ran for a third term in 1940, but he remained chair of the New York State Democratic Committee. He resigned this post as well in June 1944 as Roosevelt prepared to run for a fourth term. |
