Description | World War II cartoon shows Hitler striding past a graveyard, whistling nervously and carrying a paper reading "Hitler Speech." In the graveyard, Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill dressed up as ghosts, flap their arms next to a tombstone, decorated with a swastika, reading "Dream of World Conquest." After Italy surrendered to the Allies in September 1943, Hitler announced that Germany would continue the fight in Italy and that the Allies would never pierce the "ring of steel" protecting the German Empire. Berryman suggests that this is a far cry from Hitler's original aim of world domination |
