Description | Cartoon shows Democratic National Committee Chairman James Farley as a conductor and Vice President John Nance Garner as a bass violinist consulting about what they are going to play at a meeting of the Democratic National Committee. Farley suggest they play together, but Garner wants to know what tune Farley will play. In early 1940, President Roosevelt declined to say whether he would run for an unprecedented third term. Garner announced his intention to run for President early, but Farley, who also harbored presidential ambitions, refused to come out publicly against the President at that time. |
