Description | Photograph shows a head-and-shoulders portrait of Harold M. White (1832-1862). White graduated Union College (Schenectady, N.Y.) in 1856 and was admitted to the bar in 1859. By 1860 he was practicing law in Wapsinonoc (near West Liberty), Iowa. In 1861, at the age of twenty-eight, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving with the 11th Iowa Infantry, Company H. Military records show he "died of general debility brought on by exposure" while stationed at West Liberty, Iowa, December 3, 1862. |
