NDLI: House on the farm rented by Erasty Emvich. Near Battlefield, Indiana. Emvich repaired this house at his own expense when he moved in. There were no windows or doors and the roof had holes three feet wide. He also built a barn, dug a fruit cellar, and put in one hundred rods of fence--all at his own expense. He has now been advised by the landlord that he must leave this year
