NDLI: Conservation. Scrap iron and steel. Waste materials from heaps such as these are a rich source of scrap materials for conversion into vitally needed defense material. Efforts are now being made to collect all such materials to alleviate threatened shortages (U.S. Route 1, Baltimore-Washington Highway, August 1941)
