Description | Interior view shows the northwest bedroom decorated with pictures related to the Spanish American War and described in Eleanor Pray's letter of April 24, 1899: "I will send you ...two or three photos of my manufacture. Two are of my room and I think they are fairly good interiors for a beginner. You may be very sure I shouldn't have so much bric-a-brac about if the amah didn't do my dusting. You will notice my manicure set on the right of the dressing case. That has stood the years well and all is as good as new with the exception of the nail file which I used one day for a screw driver, with disastrous results. When I come home I shall have a new piece of steel fitted to the handle. I sent it to Shanghai for that purpose but it couldn't be done there for want of a file. The two pictures on the flag are the [battleships] Maine and the Olympia, the latter with a cap ribbon across the frame. Beside them are [Admiral George] Dewey and [Richmond Pearson] Hobson."
