NDLI: Ravana Mask

Description	It is more or less roundish in outline. The head is completely covered by a carved wooden head gear (like a crown) keeping a line of hair bordering the forehead exposed. Forehead is narrow with red coloured parallel lines in the centre. Eyes are extended and widely open with slit like horizontal opening(1/2 cm) along the lower margin of the eye. Nose is straight but short with prominent ridge along the median line. Beautifully shaped moustache immediately below the nasal septum executed by way of painting. Whisker is also extended upto the cheek. Lips are widely separated exposing only the teeth of the upper jaw. Additional 9 heads are there carved on two wooden pieces. These pieces are fitted to the main head through hole immediately below the ear which is extemely short and suggestive. Body colour : Dark orange.
