Description | Pungi is a more rudimentary version of the Indian flute The nomadic Kalbelias and Jogis are the prime users of this instrument. The Pungi is strongly associated with snake charming.Algoza : Two independent Flutes, made of bored wood or bamboo, make the pentatonic instrument, the Algoza which is utilized to create repetitive musical phrases. The Algoza is extremely popular with the shepherds of Rajasthan and can be found all over Ajmer, Jaipur, Kota, Bundi, Khairad, Alwar, and elsewhere. Murli or Murla or Murali (Tanki): This is similar to the Pungi, but more developed. The Sarinda often accompanies the Murli. The chief users of the Murli are the Langa and Manganiar musicians from Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. |
