Description | Gavri is a semi musical and dramatically being performed by religious rituals and demonstrated by Bheel Tribe of Mewar, Rajasthan among the villagers. The performers used to perform in an open space. The performers choose any suitable place near their village and start performing Gavri. For the Bheel Community it is a media through which they feel their connectivity with Lord Shiva. This is being presented at various places in and around Udaipur. The word “Gavri” address Goddess “Gauri”, wife of Lord Shiva. People of Bheel community believes that by blessings of goddess Gauri they will get free from all the miseries and pains of life. They also believes that Goddess Gauri enters a human body and announces the commencement of Gavri, the message is then passed to the Bhopa the priest. In Gavri various character are being played which are related to God and Goddess, Comedy, Daily Life Cycle and many more occasions in human being life. |
