Description | The video contains a documentation of Bodos, an agricultural community of North East India. As a settled community that has developed methods of community agriculture, the documentation of their social structure and customs (especially the self-government system of the village) is an essential part of the film. The film also includes the production of Endi and Muga silk by Bodo women– from the rearing of silkworms to the final stage on the loom. The audience is invited to participate in various community events, where the overwhelming sentiment is togetherness and joy. The film also introduces important members of the Bodo village – the headman, his assistant, the Ojha (the medicine-man-cum-priest). The latter provides the means to explore the centuries old medicine system of the Bodos, which includes cures for typhoid, malaria and hormonal imbalances. |
