Description | The video documents the Chhau Dance of the Purulia district of West Bengal. The choreographic language of this dance seems to be partly associated with the primitive rituals of Shiva. Influences of various tribal and folk dances are present in its structure which have intimately blended with it over the course of time. The mask use came much later but now it has deeply integrated with the dance form. |
