| Description | Graphically abstracting the forms: Exercise: - Make a storyboard of five visuals (like comic strips) of your chosen story - Each frame represents a specific event, which document five continuous points in time (diachronic) In this exercise, you’ll try to depict these visuals in abstract form - Abstract, graphicalise and simplify the forms or shapes of the elements in your visual (both the characters and the background environment) so as to represent a higher level of order - The visuals should make use of forms, textures, colours to express your story This is an exercise in exploring how one can transform a visual through graphically abstracting the forms Abstraction: Abstraction is often defined as an operation that extracts elements or constituents common to a number of particular cases and presents them as a new sum or configuration Rudolf Arnheim Visual Abstraction: Visual Abstraction refers to the ability to transform a visual into its essential features - this could be achieved by transformation of any one or more of the visual elements such as shape, colour and texture 'Order refers to the degree and the kind of lawfulness governing the relations among parts of the representations It applies to the makeup of each part within itself' Maldanado Y and Bonseipe G Higher Level of Order: A relatively high degree of order seems to be the key factor underlying the characteristics inherent in the abstraction of representation 'Order refers to the degree and the kind of lawfulness governing the relations among parts of the representations Here are examples of visuals of the story represented through visual abstraction: Cycle Friends: Kaka the Crow: Ghost at IIT: The Rescue: Chinku: The Moon's Spell: Binu and Fireflies: Hero Cycle: The story is about Rahul: A Bud's Life: Abha's Imaginary Friend: Dancing Lights: Lily My Friend: Sitha School Uniform: Mermaid & Little Boy: A Water Bottle: • Identity programme at designofsignagesystems com • Useful resource e-links related to 'Graphic Design' in India - includes Communication Design, Publication Design and Packaging Design • International resource related to 'Graphic Design' • Visual Communication Design at IDC IIT Bombay |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
