Description	A group of early Buddhist rock figures, Shey. Around 500 meters east of the ruins of the palace at Shey, are eight figures from the Buddhist pantheon. These figures lie near the Lha Dorjey Chenmo Temple and are housed in a row with a shelter built by the villagers of Shey. The stone figures are dark in appearance due to the soot built up from offerings of oil lamps made by devotees. The figures from right to left are: standing Maitreya Buddha in abhaya mudra; Padmāpani Avalokiteśvara with lotus stalk in his left hand, wearing an unusual headdress; third figure is in a bad condition and is difficult to identify but the hand gesture resembles Avalokiteśvara with his four arms; fourth figure in meditation gesture with unusual diadem and halo in background; fifth is another standing Maitreya similar to the first one; Padmāpani Avalokiteśvara with lotus stalk in left hand; Maitreya in abhaya mudra; and last is Maitreya in same gesture.
